The conference entitled "The Keys
to Selling on the Internet" or how to pep up your website was attended
by new technologies professionals. Introducing it, Bernard Sauvaire said
that the proportion of outdoor accommodation professionals with Internet
connections had increased considerably and that it was "now time
to go from knowing how to making known".
And
making things known involves more than the creation of a website. It is
no longer enough to be present. You have to be visible on the net, that
is to say be displayed in the two first pages of an answer to a search
engine query. There are so many sites today that it is essential to be
referenced to be effective. Referencing is an operation consisting of
parametering a sufficiently large number of keywords to ensure a maximum
number of hits. Professionals propose referencing starting at €3,000.
But some do not use specialised agencies and make themselves visible
on the net at a lower cost. This is the case in particular of Daniel Baire-Reynaud,
hotelier in the Cévennes. He is the proof that visibility pays.
An investment of €300 brought him increased sales of more than €20,000.
He did not keep this profitable operation a secret as he was available
to participants after the conference to explain how he did it, stealing
the show from the speakers to a certain extent. |
